Mini-abdominoplasty tightens the lower abdominal wall skin and muscles only. This operation results in a shorter scar. Abdominoplasty tightens all of the abdominal wall skin and muscles from the breastbone to pubis.
Mini-abdominoplasty is usually performed as an outpatient. Abdominoplasty requires an overnight stay at a hospital or surgical facility. The patient may shower the next day and daily thereafter. They may resume routine activities and drive a car on the third post-operative day. Strenuous activity (sit ups, weight training, etc.) can be resumed in four weeks.
